Tagging system in PvE maps

The game need some sort of tagging system to avoid loot being stolen in PvE maps. Currently there’s no point in trying to farm larger enemies since anybody can just zoom in at the last second and loot everything before you have the chance to get near the body. Just make it so loot gets locked to whoever dealt the first point of damage for a set amount of time (like 1 minute or so). That way ownership is guaranteed and random people that come after get to have the scraps. Only for PvE maps tho.

We’ll probably iterate on the tap rules in the future, but for now this is something to take into consideration when doing the PvE maps. We have noticed that the density is quite high with players on the PvE maps, so its possible we could reduce the total playercount there a bit which could help with this.

Good to know there’s a lot of people showing up for PvE. Reducing the playercount per map would be better than nothing but wouldn’t ultimately solve the issue. I can see why it was designed the way it is for PvP (and it should be left as is imo) but for PvE it doesn’t make sense. It only creates griefing scenarios, encourages bad behavior and breeds frustration. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. World of Warcraft got it right 20 years ago (probably when some of you guys were around there actually).

Here’s another issue the lack of mob tapping is causing: we got people from other regions joining South American servers and farming our Ogres. It creates such a shitty experience, they jump in mid-fight or simply sit around and steal the loot when I’m done. Very rewarding…this needs to be prioritized somehow Chris.

I agree that we need a tagging system, but I wonder if there’s some other way to tackle the issue, because a tagging system would reinforce the problem that people aren’t really cooperating in the PvE mode. It feels strange to race through the map and every player you come across feels like a nuisance, that’s just waiting for you to kill a mob to instantly steal your loot. As of right now I’d rather have empty maps so I can do my own thing.

It would be nicer if cooperation was incentivized in PvE, but without any system to help distribute loot fairly, strangers could always steal the loot that you worked hard for.

Another problem with PvE is that the maps don’t feel dangerous at all. When I first played crypts in a previous patch I was terrified of both PvE and other players. But now during PvE I can barely see any living mobs. The entire map get instantly cleared and around every corner you can see people looking for scraps of loot.

Reducing the amount of players may help, but PvE mode could use a higher difficulty or maybe even scaling difficulty depending on how many people you queue up with. If PvE was harder and there were some systems in place to help with loot distribution I could see the PvE mode making more sense.

Currently I find PvE to have a promising outlook, especially for newer and more casual players, but it doesn’t really feel like it fits into the game’s systems yet. Currently it makes the game feel more bland.

That’s why I’ve been saying we need PvE maps to be party-exclusive. What you described has been my experience as well, where every player is just a hassle. Either I spawn late and the map has already been cleared or I kill some big target and get my loot stolen at the last second by some low life scumbag.

PvE has a lot of potential imo but they need to do what works to accommodate the playstyle that is expected from it (such as mob tagging and loot ownership, that has been figured out by the likes of World of Warcraft 20 years ago). Otherwise this whole “mini-mmo” thing they are trying to go for is not going to flourish.

In PvE the loot should just be individually instanced. There is no reason for competitive scarcity in a PvE environment. They should be incentivizing altruism and cooperative play in a PvE environment.

Competitive environments are for PvP. PvE should encourage soft-grouping

It would still have its own problems. Someone could go in and get the first hit on every mob and claim them and that would just ruin it for everyone. If you want your own lobbies you can go to OCE or Asia or South America.

No it wouldn’t. If you see someone tagging every mob you just back off and let them deal with it. They will either die or kill them. If they manage to kill them, they earned it. And I am in South America. The lobbies right now are from empty.

Even after getting pve mode where you get almost the same loot as pvp you still have complains….

Go pvp , you can kill the thief, no problem.

How about we don’t turn this feedback platform into the official Discord? PvP players are the absolute worst. Go uga-buga somewhere else.
