PvP arena should scale all gear base stats to the same

PvP arena should be a fair mode for all players, and that starts by having all weapons and armors have the same base stats (ie: base damage) aligning with maybe blue gear or so. Bringing in your own gear should mostly serve a cosmetic purpose, with the exception of the perks that come with the gear. This allows for a fair playing field where everyone has a fair chance, whether you are new to the game or not.

The current iteration of PvP arena falls flat in that it won’t be able to accommodate new players, as they will just be absolutely dominated by veteran players competing for leaderboard spots that have full legendary gear. Sure, if all base stats are the same, new players will still be dominated, but at least it’s a fair fight and it’s completely coming down to skill. A new player going into a PvP arena in white gear vs a veteran that is in purple or legendary gear is just silly, and that player will likely not want to play it again.

There is a reason other games such as New World scale their PvP arenas so that players have the same gear score. It doesn’t make sense to have a game-mode like this that supports you bringing in gear that is extremely better than someone elses. Perhaps when the playerbase is larger, this could be supported via some ranked mode or something. With the game in it’s current form, it absolutely should have everyone have the same base stats for total fairness and to not discourage new players.

Some players are claiming that PvP arena is an “end-game,” but imo, that’s incorrect. This game is an extraction game at its core. The purpose of grinding out better gear in extraction is to increase your chances of success in future extraction raids, not to dominate players in the PvP arena.

The PvP arena is a step in the right direction for retaining and teaching new players, but it must be a fair playing field for all.
