Currently, playing a medium or longbow Hunter in Extraction feels clunky and lacking mobility, often leading to standoffs where I can’t leave my traps, but the opponent also can’t push me. This creates a frustrating experience for both sides. Since there’s ongoing discussion about missing abilities for ranged classes, I’d like to suggest these three attacks for the medium and longbow Hunter.
Tech Attack (Tap Weapon Alt > Tap Weapon Attack)
Fires a short-range cone shaped multi-shot in front of the hunter
Stuns or incapacitates (short duration, just long enough to trap or vault kick) dealing shotgun-style damage
This tech attack would give the hunter an opportunity to create an opening allowing them to confirm a trap, land a vault kick, or even set up a cyclone instead of simply relying on the opponent to make the mistake of walking into a trap.
Vault Attack (evade attack) (Jump > Evade > Tap Weapon Attack)
Fires rapid shots while vaulting backward
Travels same distance as a landed air vault kick
Can combo an air vault kick and vault attack
Shots could be automatic or manually tapped at a rapid pace
Think of the execution animation, but vaulting backwards while firing
This Vault Attack would create a fun and engaging evade attack for both the medium and longbow, making it feel like we're actively in the fight rather than just running away.
Sprint Attack (Starting a charged shot while sprinting (or jumping from a sprint) maintains sprint momentum for a few seconds)
Allows the hunter to jump and move with directional inputs to reposition while charging a shot
Think Bhop-style mobility (but without stamina regen while jumping)
Duration should allow a full longbow charge
This Sprint attack helps the hunter stay engaged in a fights where the opponent is trying to flee or reset, giving medium and longbow hunters the chase potential they lost with the removal of Bhop. It also provides much needed mobility for repositioning during team fights, where we currently feel outpaced.
I believe these three attacks would add an extra layer of depth and much needed mobility to the hunter class. Imagine the hunter using Multi-shot to set up a Vault Kick, followed by a Vault Attack rapid fire. This would make the hunter feel more proactive and engaging for both players, reducing reliance on simply standing on our traps. Overall, it would help bring back the fluid gameplay feel that the hunter lost with the season 2 patch.
