Right now the only purpose of legendary gear is something for players to farm for to hit max power levels, feels boring to me especially with the arena now going to have people upset that they’re facing off against people in legendary gear.
Legendary Idea:
Should entice the player base to use that gear in the game (not just hoard it for arena).
Potentially with how it’s implemented give them affixes that entice players to bring them to the extraction modes
People will still hoard legendaries and not want to use them, but losing the legendary in PvP won’t feel as bad since it doesn’t provide PvP advantage anymore and dieing to someone with a legendary won’t feel bad since they’re not getting combat advantages from them
Potentially could implement the legendary affixes through a new type of gem slot each legendary piece of gear has in addition to it’s normal gem slots.
If implemented as a gem slot then any gear level potentially could have a legendary gem slot (green-purple), just important these gem slots do not give any major combat power over players
When you find a legendary piece in the wild it should have a gem in it.
Gems make it easier for balancing, if a legendary is causing problems remove the recipe from the game
Recipes can be learned/found
Bloodstone Gem/Mithril Gem - can be found sometimes in Ore and/or forged in the smith (bloodstone for minor affixes, mithril for others maybe)
Gives players more freedom in creating/using legendaries
If you disenchant a legendary piece with a gem in it be rewarded with the recipe to craft that gem
Affix ideas:
GGG Goblin Gold Goblanza - Killing blow goblins/bandits/skeletons have a chance to explode into piles of gold
Pray to the Altar - Praying inside churches or to certain statues spawns a temporary friendly skeleton for 5 minutes that anyone can interact with for 1 free potion of their choosing
More Power - Gain a stacking buff everytime you kill a PvE mob, after 10 stacks your next kill will provide you with a 20% damage boost to PvE mobs for 1 minute
For Toroin Firdrong - Killing an enemy has a chance to heal you for 5% of HP and Wound
Need Better Apple Trees - Hitting a PvE mob has a chance to spawn an apple covering it’s head blinding/stunning it and leaving a tasty apple on the body to loot
Arkavuin Tear Extracter 1,000 - Taste the salty tears of your enemies, enemies you kill have a chance to drop salt, no promises for skeletons and undead, your enemy must have working salt glands, word is players always have tears to extract.
Dwarven Miner - You can interact with Ore deposits to explode them instantly scattering their ore around the area to gather
Wrong bait - Sometimes your fish up a surprise (think a skeleton that drops extra cloth/goblin that drops extra gold/Shifty bandit that drops a random key, mobs can be scaled based on their map difficulty)
Water Fight - Spawn an altar you can interact with to throw water sphere every few seconds (does no damage, only puts a fun debuff that has no negative effects just a debuff).
Someone can sit up in high places just throwing spheres of water at people, something fun to use to taunt players towards you
Maybe put a requirement that any players killed with the debuff drop a pool of water around their body that heals people standing in it
Taunt - You know you’re the best right? Make sure everyone knows, you glow gold because gold is the best and everyone needs to know how you’re the coolest best out there
Literally just makes your character glow gold, easier to spot and kill
Fireworks - Shoot fireworks into the air (1-2 minute cooldown)
Another way to taunt people to show them where you are
Your It - Physically run into players to mark them it, for the next 5 minutes every 30 seconds that player will emit a quick noise or spawn a beam of light (for 5 seconds, the beam doesn’t follow the player) that people nearby can see/hear
Siren Song - Omit an aura that seduces PvE mobs 15 yards around you, slowing their attack/cast speed
Tis the Season - Secondary interact with trees to add christmas lights to them
Ogre Smash - After taking damage from a PvE mob a boulder will fall on you stunning PvE mobs hit, 30 second cooldown. Does not damage players
Gargoyle me, no Gargoyle you - chance on hit to stun your PvE enemy by turning them into stone for 1 second
Not sure if any of this is good, but figure throw it out there as an idea.
