Concept for future REAL RANKED arena - Armor deterioration

The real hardcore Ranked arena would deteriorate your gear whenever you lose.
Note that this wouldn’t affect at all extraction and that in extraction your gear would never deteriorate or break.
The deterioration gauge would only lower in this mode.
When the deterioration gauge is empty, your piece of gear gets broken and is destroyed.

This would tie in the ranked arena with the extraction aspect of the game, meaning that you can grind ranked arena, but if you lose too much, you go back to farming extraction for the mats necessary.

Could easily have the system be quite kind so maybe 10-15 losses break your gear, making gear easy to break would deter people from ranked altogether.

Yea, we like this idea as something to explore in the future. I don’t know about durability, but we could do a feature that has something like gambling gear. Thanks for the suggestion!

let’s say that if people can completely opt off losing gear in ranked, every arena mode will completely be cut off from the extraction philosophy, so depends if the goal is to accept having 2 different modes, or to tie everything together.
Opt in gambling gear would probably not represent a lot of lost gear overall

my take in general here, don’t make a “competitive” mode even more frustrating then it already is for some people. (even more when an actual mmr/ranking will be implemented)
People already will have queue anxiety, by adding such mechanic it will push them even harder away from playing it.

Arena is a way to “short” gamemode/round, to even consider losing anything.

There is no reason to make a connection between arena and extraction. I would even go as far of making arena preset or cap it at blue. (preset only if there is costumisation of gear/gems/rings/tools/consumes/food.)
