Ash meant to be this challenging to obtain?

Wood burning the last 3 days has produced 0 Ash, maybe its very rare to obtain by burning wood. I then look to Crypts to fight the big eye mobs, however Crypts is behind a timer delay so I need to wait until its in rotation + I need to hope to obtain Ash from the big eye mobs drop rate + need to extract with said Ash. If Ash is meant to be this challenging please change its color to Purple at least, having it green as in ucommon doesnt fit its rarity.
