This post isnt to throw shade at hunters. They’re just using the map they were given.
This is also not an exhaustive list.
I’m sure this has been posted about before but it stands repeating. The Arena map has many issues aside from the fact that it feels too Warcraft and not enough Eldegarde. The clear line of sight from gate to gate and the open nature of the arena with very little LoS breaks lends itself HEAVILY to ranged classes.
The pillars are too small to effectively break LOS which doesn’t matter because one SS, GW or HF covers more than the entire pillar. The map is so open that hunters can easily jump from one side of the map to the other every time cyclone is off CD. While these things exist in extraction, there are more LoS breaks to gain ground on ranged without taking insane amount of damage. For instance, the trees in GWD/N are much bigger than the pillars in the RoB.
The open nature of gate to gate allows hunters to pressure before the match even starts, requiring you to pre dodge out of the gate. (Seung got a taste of this in beat the devs.)
The Ring of Blood wouldn't be such an issue if there were other maps in rotation. However, there are not so these issues stand out even more.
A map pool for the Arena mode featuring various in game POI's randomly selected during matchmaking (NOT ON ROTATION) would make the game mode feel more like Eldegarde.
IMO we can keep Ring of Blood but also add back Green Ruins. Give us The Cisterns of Light or Chamber of the Lion and maybe the Lightfallen Cemetery or Lightfallen Cemetery from GWN. You can keep the 1v1/2v2/3v3 rotation but map diversity would help a LOT and you already have so many great locations built. This would serve to spice up Arena and also give new/returning players practice in actual map locations.
